Frequently Asked Questions

How does Pōdex™ fix curved toenails?

It forms a light-cured gel “brace” that gently resists downward pressure and guides your nail to grow straighter. More layers = stronger correction.

What happens if it isn’t cured properly?

If the gel is not exposed to sufficient light intensity, the correct wavelengths, or full coverage, the polymerization may remain incomplete. This can lead to weak or uneven lifting effect, reduced adhesion or early peeling, and a sticky or tacky surface after curing.

To ensure proper curing:

If you are not using the Pōdex™ GLOW UV/LED lamp:
Use a full-size lamp with dual wavelengths (365 nm + 405 nm or 395 nm + 405 nm), adequate power (typically 24W or higher), and a curing area large enough to fully cover the nail. Your nail should be placed naturally inside the lamp’s curing zone, where the correct distance is built into the lamp design.

If you are using the Pōdex™ GLOW:
The GLOW is intentionally designed as a precision single-finger lamp. Hold it 0.5–1 cm above the nail and cure each layer for 120 seconds.

Why is the Pōdex™ GLOW only 3W? Can it cure hard gel?

Yes. Wattage alone does not determine curing strength — what matters most is the LED type, wavelength, and how close the lamp is held to the nail.

The Pōdex™ GLOW uses a high-efficiency, larger LED bead with dual wavelengths (395nm + 405nm) specifically chosen to match the photoinitiators in the Pōdex hard-gel system. When held 0.5–1 cm above the nail, the focused beam delivers strong, even curing for single-nail application.

This mini lamp is intentionally designed for precision curing, not full-hand salon use.

For best results, please follow the recommended distance and timing.

How many layers should I apply?

For mild to moderate curvature: 2 layers of LIFT gel are usually sufficient.

For severe curvature: Apply 3–4 layers of LIFT gel, curing each layer thoroughly.

Applying multiple thin, even layers creates progressive tension that lifts the nail comfortably without causing damage.

How long does each application last?

Each full Pōdex application typically lasts 2 to 3 weeks, depending on:

  • Nail growth rate
  • Degree of curvature
  • Shoe pressure and daily activity

For best results, reapply every 2–3 weeks until the affected portion of the nail has completely grown out.

Can Pōdex be used on fingernails?

Yes.

Pōdex™ can be safely used on fingernails as well as toenails. The same 3-step system (Prep → Lift → Seal) applies. Results may vary depending on nail shape and severity of curvature.

How long does it take for a toenail to grow out completely?

A full toenail growth cycle generally takes 9 to 12 months, depending on age, nutrition, and circulation. Regular Pōdex reapplication every 2–3 weeks ensures gradual correction throughout the nail’s growth cycle.

Is Pōdex a medical treatment or cosmetic product?

Pōdex is a revolutionary cosmetic correction system that mimics the natural lifting tension used in medical orthonyxia but without wires or surgery. It is non-invasive, painless, and safe for regular use in clinics, salons, or at home.

Who should avoid using Pōdex?

Avoid use if you have:

  • Open wounds, ulcers, or bleeding around the nail
  • Fungal infections or severe inflammation
  • Severe diabetic foot conditions without medical clearance
Is the gel safe and gentle on the nail?

Yes. Pōdex™ gels are TPO-free and formulated according to international cosmetic safety standards.
They are applied only to the nail surface and do not penetrate or damage the nail bed.
They can also be safely removed using an electric nail file when needed.

Our formulations have been third-party tested to confirm they are free of TPO
(Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide), a common sensitising ingredient.

Can I combine Pōdex with medicated antifungal or healing creams?

Yes, but ensure all medications or oils are fully absorbed and dry before applying Pōdex. Do not apply PŌDEX over open wounds or active infections.

What if I feel tightness or mild discomfort after curing?

A gentle tightening sensation immediately after curing is normal — it means the product is creating upward tension to lift the curved nail. If pain or strong pressure occurs, remove and reapply using thinner layers or shorter curing time.

How should I store the product?

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and keep bottles tightly closed. Exposure to heat or UV light can cause premature curing inside the bottle.

Are there non-surgical options for ingrown toenails?

Yes. Some non-surgical approaches focus on correcting the nail’s shape over time rather than removing part of the nail. Learn more about non-surgical ingrown toenail treatment options here. Non-surgical ingrown toenail treatment
