pedicure filing big toenail with electric file

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I buy Pōdex® myself and take it to my podiatrist or foot care specialist?

Yes. You can purchase Pōdex® directly and bring it to your podiatrist, chiropodist, nail technician or foot care professional for assessment and application. Check with them before purchasing, as suitability and application remain at their discretion.

How does Pōdex® improve the appearance of curved toenails?

It forms a light-cured, transparent gel layer across the nail plate to help improve the appearance of curved nails. Apply thin layers according to the Pōdex® application guide, curing each layer separately.

What happens if it isn’t cured properly?

If the gel is not exposed to sufficient light intensity, the correct wavelengths or full coverage for the required time, polymerisation may remain incomplete. This can lead to reduced adhesion, early peeling or an uneven gel finish. Incomplete curing can also increase the risk of irritation or allergic reactions.

To ensure proper curing:

If you are not using the Pōdex® GLOW UV/LED lamp:

Use a compatible full-size lamp with dual wavelengths (365 nm + 405 nm or 395 nm + 405 nm), adequate power (typically 24W or higher) and a curing area large enough to fully cover the nail. Position the nail within the lamp’s designated curing zone and follow the lamp’s positioning instructions.

Apply thin layers and cure each layer separately for 120 seconds.

If you are using the Pōdex® GLOW:

The GLOW is designed for single-nail application. Hold it 0.5–1 cm above the nail, ensuring full coverage, and cure each thin layer separately for 120 seconds.

Avoid contact between uncured gel and the surrounding skin. If you suspect incomplete curing, do not apply additional layers. Seek advice from a trained nail professional before continuing.

Why is the Pōdex GLOW only 3W? Can it cure hard gel?

Wattage alone does not determine curing performance. What matters is the light intensity reaching the nail, wavelength, coverage, gel thickness and curing time.

The Pōdex® GLOW uses dual wavelengths (395 nm + 405 nm) and a focused beam designed for single-nail application. Hold it 0.5–1 cm above the nail, ensuring full coverage, and cure each thin layer separately for 120 seconds, following the Pōdex® application instructions.

This compact lamp is designed to cure one nail at a time, rather than a full hand.

For best results, follow the recommended distance, layer thickness and curing time.

How many layers should I apply?

For mild to moderate curvature: Apply 2 thin layers of LIFT gel.

For more pronounced curvature: Apply 3–4 thin layers of LIFT gel.

Cure each layer separately for 120 seconds using a compatible UV/LED lamp, following the Pōdex® application instructions.

Applying multiple thin, even layers builds strength while maintaining a discreet, transparent finish.

How long does each application last?

Each full Pōdex® application typically lasts 2–3 weeks, depending on:

  • Nail growth rate
  • Degree of curvature
  • Shoe pressure and daily activity

For best results, remove and reapply every 2–3 weeks as part of your ongoing nail care routine. If cracks or peeling appear sooner, follow the removal instructions and inspect the nail before reapplying.

Can Pōdex be used on fingernails?

Yes.

Pōdex® can be safely used on fingernails as well as toenails. The same 3-step system (Prep → Lift → Seal) applies. Results may vary depending on nail shape and severity of curvature.

How long does it take for a toenail to grow out completely?

A toenail generally takes 12–18 months to grow out completely, although individual growth rates vary. Regular Pōdex® reapplication every 2–3 weeks helps maintain a consistent cosmetic finish as the nail grows.

Is Pōdex a medical treatment or cosmetic product?

Pōdex® is a revolutionary three-step system designed for cosmetic nail care, helping enhance the appearance of curved nails with a thin, transparent finish.

It is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent nail conditions or replace medical care. Always follow the application, curing and removal instructions. If you have an ingrown nail, pain, inflammation or signs of infection, consult a podiatrist or healthcare professional before application.

Who should avoid using Pōdex?

Avoid use if you have:

  • Open wounds, ulcers, or bleeding around the nail
  • Fungal infections or severe inflammation
  • Severe diabetic foot conditions without medical clearance
What precautions should I follow when using Pōdex®?

Pōdex® gels are TPO-free and formulated in accordance with applicable international cosmetic safety standards.

They are applied only to the nail surface. Follow the application and curing instructions and avoid contact with surrounding skin.

They can also be removed using an electric nail file by a trained professional, following the Pōdex® removal instructions.

Our formulations have been third-party tested and confirmed free from TPO (Trimethylbenzoyl Diphenylphosphine Oxide).

Can I use Pōdex® alongside medicated nail products or creams?

Yes, but ensure all medications or oils are fully absorbed and dry before applying Pōdex. Do not apply Pōdex over open wounds or active infections.

What if I feel tightness or discomfort after curing?

A mild tightening sensation may occur after curing. If it becomes uncomfortable or you notice pain or irritation, stop use and seek professional advice. Always follow the recommended curing time.

How should I store the product?

Store in a cool, dry place away from sunlight and keep bottles tightly closed. Exposure to heat or UV light can cause premature curing inside the bottle.

Are there non-surgical options for ingrown toenails?

Yes. Non-surgical options are available for some ingrown toenails, depending on their severity. A podiatrist can assess the nail and recommend appropriate care. Learn more in our guide to non-surgical ingrown toenail treatment options.
