How fungal infections affect nail shape

Fungal nail infections often cause nails to thicken, discolour, and become misshapen. As the nail thickens, it may begin to curve inward and press into the surrounding skin, leading to pain and ingrown toenails.

Why fungal nails can be uncomfortable

The combination of increased nail thickness and inward curvature creates pressure against the nail folds. This can cause redness, soreness, and difficulty wearing shoes comfortably.

When nail lifting may help
